he Chesapeake Bay and its rivers and streams
are a national treasure. They define this part
of the country. They also provide us with our
drinking water, countless recreational opportunities, and so many more natural benefits.
Recently, CBF set out to determine the value of those
natural benefits, and in October, we released our newest
report: The Economic Benefits of Cleaning Up the
Chesapeake. Our peer-reviewed report, co-authored by
CBF Senior Water Quality Scientist Dr. Beth McGee and
Dr. Spencer Phillips of Key-Log Economics, LLC, was
the first-ever analysis for the Chesapeake Bay system.
The authors’ methodology is well established, having
been used in many other parts of the country.
